What item(s) do you absolutely need when going out for a day of fishing? Share with us your favourite products, best gear, most effective bait, and anything else you always like to take with you.
First you need a good Rod and Reel. I would Be taking a 6 1/2 ft Ugly Stick medium to heavy action. Always have a topwater silver original floating rapala, strikeking Spinnerbait, white chartruse with trailer hook, and never leave home without a Arkie crawgrub or jig, they really catch Big bass! Next it would have to be my Renegade Polarized sunglasses, they have caught me more Bass than most fisherman ever could imagine. Bass pro hat to help with the sun and cut the glare on the water. A cold bottle of water and a couple packs of cheese crackers. And always take the camera for a shot of your Catch!
Hey Vanessa you threw it out there so I had to bite it like a big ole' bass...When I go out for a day of fishing I Must have my Polarized glasses, my sun block, and my lucky visor, in my tackle box I must have my green pumkinseed trikstiks, and my Koppers Livetarget crawfish, and perch crankbaits. my hemostat/scissors my Deep Woods off sport spray and my trusty Rapala fillet knife. just incase there's a shore lunch. take care vanessa it was great participating it your discussion see you round the pond.
1) St. Croix 6'6" ML Fishing Rod with a Shimano Spinning Reel 10# test, with the right drag ready for anything.
2) Polarized Sunglasses
3) Nail clippers
4) Spinners
I can't leave home (when bass fishing) without an assortment of 4 to 7.5" plastic worms in most shades/colors, along with a load of different bullet weights & worm hooks.
However I have added these items last few years...
add "waterproof" to the sunblock (so you don't sweat it off), sunblock lip balm, a small pair of bolt cutters (you can pick up a pair for under $10.00 at tool surplus places,8" handle), mouth spreader (last 2 items very handy for muskies and pike, might be the difference to keep them alive-- split ring pliers, extra treble hooks.
A good and comfortable life jacket is in my gear, not a tackle box item, but safety is important to me.
Many good ideas in this topic, thanks for who ever started this....
I fish for soooo many different species, i have too much stuff, and still not enough!
What i NEED to take depends on the water and the time of yr so i'm not even gonna bother listing specific tackle and baits/lures.
Absolute must always takes would be good sunnies, mesh back hillbillytrucker cap(never washed), fishing licence, bottle of water (fine scotch optional), letherman and NO camera, for some reason i only get skunked when i bring a camera so i don't take one........and i'm ugly.
Other than that i'm always hunting for more stuff to collect and 'magic' lures to buy and places to take them all.
