The best guides I have fished with in my area were all booked through Dawn Rucando @ www.fishthesalmonriver.com. I have always gotten off the boat feeling like I had a new friend and I hope that everyone who boards my boat leaves feeling exactly the same way.

Comment by Jason Ensign on May 25, 2008 at 1:41pm: Ok so what makes a "good guide"? To me, it would be one that does everthing he can to ensure the people have good memories to take home with them. After you eat the fish, thats what you have left. That involves not only helping people catch fish, but conducting yourself in a professional and courteous manner and making sure the anglers are comfortable. After a trip with a guide--he should feel more like a friend than someone you just paid money to. A couple of guide services here in Texas that come to mind are Chris Carey at Striper Express and the guys at Guaranteed Guide Service--friends of mine took a trip with the guys at GGS and had a blast.
