Although fished primarily for it's warm water species, such as Chain Pickerel and White Perch, Great East Lake provides a good fishery for Brook and Rainbow Trout. The southwest portion of the lake offers the best fishing potential and is primarily good for ice fishing, especially for Brown Trout and Chain Pickerel. Because the lake is prone to "white-outs" during unexpected snowstorms, a compass is a must for winter fishing. Average ice-out is May 1st. Great East Lake is an interstate water and is governed by special fishing regulations that should be checked prior to fishing here.
