fished all weekend outta palm beach kings were running ridiculously hard. limited out on kings thurs sat and sunday kept a total of 17 kings over the 3 days. after limited out and i can say you have not kingfished till you do it with a 400o stradic on 20-30 lb kings. stradics drags are soo smooth through those blistering runs.

catchem up on your shimanos

Just another comment on Shimano...I had a warranty issue on a rod-no questions asked--they replaced it.

They are excellent to deal with.

the new shimano talicas are serious stuff.
they are pretty much winches that you attach to a fishing rod.
and they hold a serious amount of braid.
something to look at

Thanks Tim!!! It looked so nice, and then they put it on sale for 20% off....

I am intending to use it on a rod I use for casting for muskies and pikes while I am up here on the great lakes, but for the winter I have a condo in NC, I will stick it on my surf casting rod and use it for fishing for stripers, but it sounds like it will hold up without a problem.

i actually have a sahara 4000 with 12 lb ande on it
and landed a 37lb dolphin on it and the drag held up very well
i would recommend the reel
