Very nice blog post, sir. The only thing i want to comment on is the culling of bass. My family owns some smaller private lakes and we had the problem of over populated bass. The fish were skinny and rarely would anyone catch one that weighed more t…

I usually stick with the BassPro and Cabela's branded rods. I have found that they are really good quality for less than the price of a comparable brand-name rod. I have a BassPro "Nitro" rod and a Cabela's "XML" rod. Both of these rods retail in Ca…

Hello and welcome to my page.
I used to fish all the time with my dad when I was a kid - mostly jigging or trolling for lake trout in Northern Ontario. As an adult, I had all but completely forgotten about fishing. Then, when my 5 year old son took an interest in fishing I rediscovered it and am now re-hooked!

My favourite kind of fishing is definitely bass fishing. I have also done some wading for brook trout, which I really enjoy.

Please take some time to browse around, read my blog, and feel free to leave a message.

Cheers,
BC

Catch & Release

I am a strictly catch and release angler. There are a number of reasons for this. First of all, with the exception of fish and chips down at the pub, I don't like eating fish. My father always told me that, if I killed a fish (or any other animal for that matter), I had an ethical obligation to clean it and eat it.

With the possible exception of fly-fishing anglers, I think that bass anglers are the most conservation minded anglers around. Bass anglers may have been the first group of anglers t… Continue

Baitcasting vs. Fly Fishing

I recently had an opportunity to spend a wekend bass fishing with a good friend who also happens to be a staunch fly-fisherman. I was interested in comparing the two techniques and their effectiveness on bass.

We were fishing out of a 16' side console fishing boat. My buddy "McFly" was on the trolling motor and I was in the back.

The first thing about bass fishing out of a boat with a fly-fisher is that they take up a lot of airspace with false casting. I found myself having to wait for him to… Continue

Thanks for compliments. The bluegills were as big as my hand, which by most standards is "slab" sized gill. Caught those fish early in march with my son. We had a hankerin for a fish fry.

Thanks for the welcome. Those are some great pictures. I recently did a ittle fishing throwing a frog ( Spro ) myself at some grass mats. The grass here in Tennessee (KY Lake) has been starting to recede over the last couple of weeks.
