About Me
My heart belongs to dry fly fishing...I was once a guide in Montana on the Blackfoot River, but when I wasn't guiding, I was over on the Big Hole. I fell in love with the Big Hole River, from the moment I started fly fishing when I was younger, I dreamed of one day fishing the Big Hole and catching a Grayling, in July of 2011, this came true! I'm not a professional guide anymore, but I still give lessons to those who want them, and I guide my father on our annual trip to Montana. This year we were drawn for the Smith River.

I now live in North Dakota, a place I moved to when I got out of the military. At some point in my life while I was guiding, I felt that I hadn't paid my dues yet, that is when I made the choice to go into the military. I am no longer in the military and one day I would like to own my own fly shop while doing a little bit of guiding again. The one fly fishing trip a year hasn't been nearly enough, I feel a part of me has died, so to fix that, I vowed that 2012 would be a year that I fly fish more. Multiple trips to the Black Hills of South Dakota will be made, the Smith River will be floated, and some lakes around the region I live in now will be belly boated!
How passionate are you about fishing?
Hardcore (Over 50 times a Year)

When I think back to my beginnings into fly fishing, one of the first flies I learned to tie was the Griffith’s Gnat. Nothing more than a hook covered with a peacock herl and then some grizzly hackle to finish off the fly. Looking at it, most people wonder what exactly it’s imitating. In the eyes of the fish, whatever the gnat is…
