Way to go wifey......

Well, its official. My wife is addictied to fishing. Guess what she is getting for Christmas????

Its been a while since I posted. Let me tell you about Calobogie Lake. Just outside of Arnprior and an hour drive from Ottawa, Ontario, it is one of the finest places to fish. It was quiet and the people were very friendly. Even though I did not catch anything, it was a great time had by all. My buddy Steve and I went for Walleye. He ended up with two Bluegill and a baby Bass. Six hours on the… Continue

What a catch!!!

Well what a great time fishing this past Wednsday. My wife and I took our kids to see an international fireworks competition. While we were waiting for the works to fire off, we decided to wet a line for about an hour. What an hour it was. My 4 year old son caught himself and fine looking 2lbs smallie. The squeel of excitement from my family blew my eardrums out. A few minutes later, I caught another smallmouth but a little smaller then my sons fish. All in all a good time was had by all.… Continue

Pollution is pretty bad...

I'm from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I fish the mighty Ottawa river quite a bit. But recently I have been bothered by the amount of "CRAP" going into our waters. It has been discovered that our esteemed City council has hidden the fact that our water treatment plants in our "Nation's Capital" has been overflowing itself thus causing thousands upon thousands of liters of untreated sewage to pour over into our river. In our day and age of TECHNOLOGY this sort of thing should not happen. We should… Continue

OOPPSS!

Well, I went and done it. I broke my son's fishing rod. I did not mean to do it, but I had to try and save the hook from the dreaded rock. I would not leave well enough alone. I had to give it that extra tug and then "SNAP"! I broke the rod. Poor kids, they were in shock. They were both wanting to try to catch walleye. All you heard was "HEAR WALLEYE. WHERE ARE YOU"?

So the next day it was off to Canadian Tires. I found another rod and now my son is a happy camper. As soon as the rain lets… Continue

No need for gadgets........

I like to watch alot of shows on fishing. One of them is the "GOING FISHING" show with Daryl Cronzy. He mentioned something on one of his shows during his "Around the Campfire" segment. He is correct in saying, and I agree with him, that not many kids go fishing. Here is what he meant by that comment: Not to long ago, we lived in an age where there were no cell phones, video games and computers. Even when I was a kid, I got to go do alot of fishing with my father and a friend of his. I have… Continue

On lakes and side pools of mississipi bass often hit the worms hard in panfish areas never over 16 inches except 1 lost him at the edge of shore.I like the fact you can catch your own minows here, they are thriving right now.But I can't find a good bass spot to close.Hopefully the minnows will produce for you.

Never seen a fishfinder except cabelas.Don't trust my 48 year old engine do not use boat right now. From shore I look for slow spot on either side of flowing water.I also fish in old structure sticking out of water, barge platforms/railroad junk.I go for slower water, fast water only hides stripers.I send in out with 20z egg and leave it. Or for panfish figure half circle in front of me.Start on left move bait in slowly inwards every 5 minuts.Keep working it at points on a clock.Out and retrieve bait every few minuts closer.Get a bite keep hitting it for school. For casting yellow grub on spinner same style, and off side of plant growth areas.Always gets fish just nothin to brag about.I get that lighter engine on the old boat and I'm going to find myself a big catfish.Scouting area for flatheads right now.Little ones means parent of some size.

Finding all the rocks in mississipi right now.Leaving hooks behind to mark them.Got my presentation down but random rocks near shore I'm on cost me too much.Going light with old sinkers and wasting time til vacation.Up to 19in freshwater drum.Heard the big one was caught and killed away from my area. Will see if next month produces a good bass.
