Fletchers 2008

It's official!!! The crew for Fletchers got together and talked about it. Memebers Tim, steve, Scott, and myself were busy planning menus, discussing costs, drinking beer, etc. Anyway, if you think about it, the trip was already planned like five years ago. We talk about the same thing over and over, because of course Tim tries to complain about something that needs no complaints. The trip is set though, the last week of July at Fletchers Floodwaters, one of Michigan's premier fishing spots… Continue

Warmer Weather but still fishing was a little slow

Depending who you talked to, and where they went for Memorial Day weekend, the fishing was hit or miss in Northern Michigan. I went back to a lake I visited the week prior and caught about the same amount of fish in three hours (3 fish)....although this time by kayak and not a motor boat......still fun to be on the water though!!!!

Northern Michigan Weather affecting the fishing

Of all accounts, the weather in Northern Michigan has not been too kind for fishing. This past weekend was experienced with mixed results. The Large Mouth Bass have just now started to hit their beds, and only a few are actively biting away from them. The Rock Bass have been a little more agressive. Blue Gills are hit and miss, unless using a wolly bugger fly fishing, like my buddies Al and Dennis did. Finally, the Northen Pike wer e finikey at best. The weather forecast calls for 70 plus… Continue

You need to add an update that the crew got together and talked about it. Think about it.

Up north, we love to fish the back waters in Wellston along with the big Manistee river. Down south, we love Lake St. Claire, handlining on the Detroit River, and Stoney Creek.... Where are you located and where do you fish?

That was my first musky... caught it on a crank bait but the funny thing is that I knew I had something big so my husband started reeling in his top water really fast and bam another musky hit his lure at the same time. We didn't have a net (it was in the car, kind of a luck thing) and we were shore fishing. So we got em onto shore and he had to hold his while taking pictures of mine than I let mine free and I took pictures of his. It was on out honeymoon in Canada must've been a present from the fishing gods!!!! ha ha ha.

Thanks for tellng me about this site! The May Trip went by too fast. Too many fish, not enough time. Kurt's lake was the place to go, though. I still have some hope to make it to Fletchers this summer. Stay tuned.

New Michigan Fishing Social Network on Ning
Thinking that there might be an interest for a fishing social network in Michigan I have developed: www.MichingFishing.ning.com .
Just launched it last week and only have a couple of trial members; have not done any recruitment yet.
One of my ideas is to have port/lake/river/stream mentors/coordinators or another title that fits the activity.
Since you are in GetReeled.com you have the skills to use the software and assist in the development of the www.MichiganFishing.ning.com site if you are so inclined.
So, what I’m asking is--would you be interested in being an Area Coordinator on the Michigan Fishing site? This would involve moderating Groups/Forums/Photos/Videos/Membership/ and all of the specialzed items associated with those areas. You can do more than one if you want. A lot of the items on getreeled would apply to michiganfishing too.
I’ve tried to create a Yahoo email for this group but it’s currently intercoursing me, so I have to wait for 24 hours. Contact me at www.MichiganFishing.ning.com or at my Yahoo email: weikert843@yahoo.com
Also, you are free to recruit members for michiganfishing at anytime; I’ve done a search of Michigan in the Groups area on getreeled and have a list of everyone that turned up.
If this isn't an interest for you is there anyone you can recommend. Paul
