i'm a freshmen at a college in Spokane, which has cut into my fishing time since i got here, but i hope to get out this spring and try some of the local waters once it finally stops snowing. i've been fishing since i was four, flyfishing since i was six, and tying (usable) flies since i was eight.

I saw you recommended using a 9ft 9wt fly rod for pike. That's what i have but can't seem to get the fly more that about 30-40 feet out on a good day. I was wondering if you had any tips for casting huge flies? Do you normally use floating or sinking line and what do you recommend for leaders?
we get both spruce grouse and the ruffed the spruce is dark meat like a partridge and the ruffed is just like chicken, always throw a couplke of those in the bottom of the turky pan at thanksgiving the drippings realy put a taste on them...instead of cranberry sauce i use local partridge berry jam(low bush cranberry the scientific name)...i have to stop typing ive made myself to hungry forget summer come on fall lol
