Chris's Fishing Blog

new to b.c

It looks as though i may be moving to B.C in April/May.

We will be starting out on Vancouver Island where my Mrs has family. Hows the fishing over there? I'm not much of a trout or saltwater fisherman!

My fishing experience is mostly carp, pike, bass and panfishing.I've been in Ontario for about 3 yrs or so and am just getting to know the season turnovers and hot spots/time for various species here. I've also developed a love of ice fishing too(i don't think there is any… Continue

Its Bassmass eve in Ontario tonight!

The alarm will be set for 4:15, gotta pick my fishing bud up,get the canoe on the roof, get a large double double and be on the water by 5ish to meet the sunrise and hopefully tire my arms out with a serious number of football smallies. I'm sure my morning will be the same as many other ontarians, i got me a hotspot i'm dying to try out (ask me no questions, i'll tell no lies!)

Bass opener is here at f***in last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help a young-en out

Ok, its my first blog and i'm not gonna tell you about a legendry fishing trip i had or any tales of the one that got away. nope i'm on the blag! i have bin chatting to and advising a youngster on here on the basics of catchin carp. it became aparent through the questions i was asked that this lil fella is using a rocket rod for his fishing right now. i don't know if you know what i'm talking about but i have seen these things on t.v and in wallmart, it is obvious to me that this young man has… Continue

Sorry that it's taken me so long to get back to you. My profile pic is a 34" male brown trout I caught on Lake Michigan. There is a pretty big 11# laker in one of the pics :)

I forgot you were staying in Port Elgin awhile. Figured you be to BC by now. Have you done any fishing? I been out for carp twice more and still not a single one this year. I hope bass season goes better for me!

I saw two carp close to the King St. bridge as I was walking over it, but I sat for about an hour and a half without any takers. Water temp was about 63 degrees. How did you guys do at Coote's?

How's it going? Been wanting to give you a call but somehow I forgot part of your Ph#. I tried Puslinch on Thurs, but it was no good. Got the car stuck in mud, and the ice was in terrible shape. Oh well, time to pack up the ice gear and get the carpin' gear ready! PM me your Ph#.

lmao,no im not living on a pike farm......i live around a series of small lakes and ponds that are full of crappie, perch, blue gills, carp, pike, bass and shad.ive spent alot of time on these lakes/ponds and drilled alot of holes trying to figure everything out.so far ive been rewarded fairly well for my efforts and have zero'd in on the pike for the most part.i know theres bigger ones then what ive caught and that is exactly why i keep going back every chance i have.with my job being outside work for the most part and the weather being whats its been, ive been off quite a bit over the past month so ive spent my days searching.......dont let the pics fool you, theres days i sit and wait for hours on end to catch one big fish and theres others that i nail 2 or 3 in a day.i could how ever go out to a few spots and catch a ton of hammer handles but its the big girls i want.like ive said, ive put alot of work and effort into them and will continue to do so year round, especially now that i know just how big some of the fish are here and that includes every species that swims in these waters.......so when you coming out?

How was the trout? I butterflyed mine and fried it with roast chicken seasoning and garlic. It was good. It had those damned parasites on it. They're copepod's calles Lernae. They just attach on the outside like leeches, so you ca pull them off an the fish is ok to eat.
