Well that depends on a lot of different things, like where the fish are for one and another is your confidence in what you are using. Many people have loads of success using these baits or they wouldnt be so popular. read this

If you have the equipment (rod that you can throw a 1 oz crank) I caught quite a few Northern Pike on the 1 oz. size, just put a leader on it. I make my own floro leaders and try not to use the pre-made wire ones.

Rattletraps and such are nice....(everybody makes a generic now)...I probably had the most success last year with them just after they start to lay eggs...just work it over their nests, I think the noise gets them in the defensive protection mode...…

I've had real good success with a green baby-bass pattern rattler in secluded coves. My favorite, of course, is the Ralltin Rapala for that type of fishing, but I'm primarily a fly fisherman My poor old bass box hasn't seen much use in recent years…

When are lipless crankbaits the most successful? I throw rattle traps in all sorts of different lakes, different depths and times and i have not caught anything. What the heck?
