Lake fishing for bass

Bass fishing can be simple with just a worm on the end of the line. You can take about any pole, a bobber and different baits out on the lake and have a pretty good chance of catching small mouth bass. If you want more of a game, you can go after large mouth and try different methods for catching sneaky bass.

Like other fish, bass will look for shelter to hide in and then they’ll sneak out to feed. Fish along any changes in the bottom. In a manmade lake, even try fishing by small…

Lake fishing for trout

Trout is a delicate tasting meat and a fun fish to catch. You can fish for trout in manmade lakes and high mountain streams with different techniques of course. Let’s start with fishing with a spinning rod. Fishing for trout in any water requires a light touch. By this I mean use a light fishing rod and line. The light rod allows you to feel a bite, and the light line won’t disturb the water as much as scare off your fish. I often choose 6 pound test line. Attach this to a 3-way swivel so…

I guide on Fayette County Reservoir and had taken some Customers out for a half day of fishing when this happened and I post these pictures with the intent to shame these individuals so that maybe they will be more considerate of other fishermen and this is what happened.…

Boca Grande Tarpon Tournament, here I come!!

I think that every angler likes the chance to see what he or she is made of. To push the envelope and see just how skilled you are and to show that fish that you can outlast anything he can dish out. For me, it's the yearly Tarpon tournament in beautiful Boca Grande. It's one of the more prestigious tournaments that happen every year from May-June. The Silver King, as it's called, is one amazing as well as beautiful fish. They are strong and definitely worth the fight so you had better make… Continue

How to catch Big Catfish?

Im wondering if anyone out there has good experience catching giant catfish of any kind?

We have great luck using chicken liver on liverhooks and treble hooks but they are smaller fish. Using pan fish has worked a few times but if Im gonna sit there all day waiting id rather throw them on a jug. Any tips make sure to list hook type size and bait.

Thank you.

Bigger fish are starting to show up

This report is for Tuesday through Thursday.

On Tuesday we fished a corporate trip out of waterfront. We only got to fish about 3 1/2 hours before we called it a day. They were on a tight schedule and even though all the guys wanted to stay out we had to get them in or the buses would have left them. All the groups caught some fish. My group managed around 15 fish and lost another 10. We never caught any big fish but we had alot of fun. All fish were caught in 5 foot or less on a… Continue

Fish are really starting to feed on the shad and some still haven't spwaned yet

I know I haven't posted in a while but I slowed on all the trips I was doing due to getting remarried and am in the process of buying a new house. So things have been a little hectic. I still have been fishing every week and running at least 3 trips per week but now I am getting fired back up to go 7 days a week.

Anyways let's get to the fishing and I have got to get better at taking more pictures. The clients and I have been cutting up so much that when we catch one we throw it back… Continue

Top Water Fishing is For Any Angler

There are many factors that draw anglers to top water fishing, the explosiveness of the bite, the challenge of the technique, and the ability to get into area’s where other baits cannot. The basics of top water are simple you want to draw the fish to the top to strike your bait. Your typical weekend angler is often turned off by the challenge of top water fishing and the time it takes to get a single a strike. But with the technology…

Walleye Run Maumee Ohio

Well my time here at Maumee Ohio for the Walleye Run is comming to an end, The cold weather front snapped us back a bit, this year, but eventully some good numbers were out there. The maumee is very shallow, and very muddy. So if you plan on making the trip next year, I recomend a using Carolina Jig with neon colored biat. Best jigging off the bottom about a foot. that is a good strike zone for walleye here. Well as the Walleye run is passing, So is my Business here in Toledo, Next stop is…

Billy Bad Bass

Kristopher Thatcher

I Enjoyed your Artice vey much. It was very informative, and well written.

I too am "hooked" on the Dance of Billy Bad bass.

As time has showed me, the Bass is not only A aggresive Peditor, he is also a particular one.

One minute he will want top water baits, the next hour or two as the weather changes,

it will change to Jigs, Spinners, Divers ect, the next hour you couldn't get him to strike if your life

depended on it. As for top…
