Fish are schooling deep on the ledges.

The flw boys that are coming in for the tournament that starts on the 8th I believe are going to wack'em. The deep bite is shaping up to be like it was 2 and 3 years ago and during that time we had some days where we actually caught a hundred fish a day and 30 to 40 of the were over 4 pounds. A few days this past week we had the schools going so good that we didn't even stop to take pictures. With the current and wind if you stopped before you knew it you were 50 yards away. A few of the…

Understanding Walleye Patterns-Part 1

28 To become an accomplished walleye angler, the first step is to understand the walleye behavior and seasonal movements in order to shorten the learning curve of where the walleyes will be. Take into consideration all factors, including type of water, weather conditions, time of year, water temperature, wind speed and direction, and time of day. Fish Scent-Myth or Magic

There are many different commercial fish attractants. From aerosol cans to squeeze tubes, and jars to jellies, tackle store shelves are stacked with a wide range fish attractants of these products.

For the most part, however, motion, shape, noise, and water displacement are the primary stimuli that cause fish to strike a lure. Most game fish sense and are attracted to your lure long before smell or taste…

Jigging for Pike in early spring

48.5

Jigs catch just about anything that swims, but excel with certain fish - northern pike being one of them. Jigs are an excellent bait to work along the bottom when pike are shallow in spring. Here's where to find spring pike and how to fool them with jigs at the start of the season.

Spawning Moves

Northern pike are considered a cool-water fish. Their mating ritual takes place immediately…

find the shad and you will find the fish

Most of the fish we are catching on the big G are in 14 or less feet and are biting a variety of baits. Spooks and pop r type baits are working well around visible grass lines. Senkos are still working also. Bigger fish seem to be in the 8 to 14 feet range on the outside grass lines. Crankbaits, swimbaits, a-rigs, big worms, and spinnerbaits and 1/2 to 3/4 oz. traps are all producing. There are fish out deeper in ditches and main river grass but the water is still dirty on the main river and…

Fishing in New Orleans you never know what Ole Mother Nature is gonna bring ya . It looks to be settling into the summer pattern with fish showing up all over and the customers booking trips daily . We are catching red fish and speckle trout with a few drum and flounders being caught at times depending on how…

NEW ORLEANS FISHING REPORT 5-8-13

Ok this week's been fun. I had some repeat customers and some new ones . Its always nice to catch up with returning customers . The week started off Thursday with an unseasonal cold front . The first couple days of the front blowing, fishing was good . After that the tide fell dramatically and mudding up the water all over making the fishing tough . Tough is tough but we are still putting fish in the box and sending customers home happy . The forecast shows the weather getting back right…

Got out Yesterday checking a few areas out with a mother and daughter who was trying something new while driving from Memphis to Florida. We found things to be alot different from the previous days. As you can see in the picture above the water has came way up and the river has turned to mud. All we could catch was some small fish and we ended up with around 18 lbs for our best five. We fished about 4 hours. We never hit the big groups because the water was so muddy on those spots and I felt…

Fish are starting to group up deep.

The last few days moving baits have been the key. A-rigs, crankbaits, single swimbaits, Spinnerbaits are the deal.We are starting to find some big groups that are deep and on the shad and it seems that the schools are a little spooky still because when we hit them we will catch 2 to 3 maybe up to 5 on straight cast and then they will breakup for a while and then group right back up and we will hit them again. The good thing about it is one you catch them they are all 3 1/12 to 5 + pounds. I…
