Well, it was a very dissapointing ice fishing season and I've been off to a slow start this spring too. My guy was in school and we had very little time to get out there. When we did, the weather in ol' Saskatchewan was scary cold this year. This spring, I caught my first rainbow but it was really an oversized minnow. Still counts in my book. Of, course, I handled it very carefully and released it. No monsters yet this year, but they're out there....waiting.......and I'm coming after… Continue

Had my big walleye tournament out on Lake Winnebago this past weekend. Saturday we weighed in with 15.24 pounds for 5 fish. We were sitting in 24th place! Not Bad! Then came sunday, Hot, humid, full sun, no wind & the lake flies were hatching. I had flies in my eyes, my nose, my ears and even swallowed some, I guess a little extra protein never killed no one!! Hahaha.... Downright nasty things!! We managed to pull 5 fish on sunday for a weight of 9.70 pounds. Very tough conditions.... Total… Continue

Went fishing today on Union Lake hear in South Jersey. This is the second largest lake in the state. The fishing was very slow at first. The water was badly stained due to so much rain for the past week. I had overcast skies and showers for most of the day. Searched for about two hours looking for the fish, trying numerous techniques trying to fish all the water columns diligently. Finally the sun came out and I had a slight breeze blowing towards the low end of the lake which leads to the dam.… Continue

I am a young 26 year old Michigan Capt that now lives in Guatemala Central America where I run and own a sport fishing company. We are getting more and more fly fishermen coming down from areas up north and throughout the US regions. Many of which are interested in catching a sailfish on the fly, and few have caught a Marlin on the fly. If you don't know sails here in Guatemala can get anywhere from 100 lbs on average to 150 lbs on the high end, and double digit days are the norm here for at… Continue

Big Pete in Ashdown is wearing the lunkers out with the 1/4 oz black blue jig. Millwood is slam full of swamp donkeys and all they seem to want in that jig. Plastic lizards are also working, but the bb jig is bearing the fruit!!! Come on, new moon, Big Pete is ready to rock!!!

Going big and going deep this weekend looking for the lunker on the new moon weekend. Fishing the late morning, early afternoon time with a black and blue 1/4 oz jig in 20 foot water. Anyone else out there believe in the new moon theory?

I have been a strong opinionated fisherman, and have ONLY used a spinning outfit. I have tried those closed face reels, but stayed away from baitcasters because of my first experince with them when I was first starting to fish. I watch the pro's and even had a good fishing buddy try to teach me the finess of the baitcaster, but I just couldn't get it. Well a new day is coming because I finally broke down and got me a baitcaster, it wasn't an expensive one because I would just toss it if I don't… Continue

I have been trying to catch this monster bass in a small neighborhood lake for the past month. Im estimating her to be somewhere between the 8.5lb-10lb range. I have hooked up on her twice and lost her both times. Once was on a jig and she jumped once and spit the lure. But last week I went out and hooked into her again but this time on a ribbit frog. I stuck her good but i ended up getting my line wrapped around a small bush and this gave her enough slack to spit it and then jump again as a… Continue

Years ago I developed what we call the C.A.R.E. Program (Captains Arranging a Relaxing Experience) which evolved from the number of woman and children that would like to enjoy the outdoors but are often left behind!!. This is your chance!! Often to many time intimidation deters woman from trying something new! The pressure and intimidation that is put on them by others can sometimes be too much for them to enjoy the sport that they are trying to learn! We have taken that fear out of that… Continue

Recently the Bassmaster Elite Series fished Lake Guntersville. As you may already know Aaron Martens won the tournament with a 4-day combined total of 107.8 pounds of bass. Considering the enormous amount of tournament fishing and leisure fishing pressure this lake receives on an annual basis there is no question that Lake Guntersville is the BEST lake in the U.S.
I had the pleasure of hanging out with some of the anglers throughout the week and hosting a media outing the week after… Continue
