WOW, I finally am starting the figure this lake out. I have been fishing this lake since March of this year, and have not had much luck landing fish. In fact I was in doubt that this lake even held many fish but over the past few days we have been more successful at locating the fish. I have been trying to go up into the tributaries feeding the lake and now that the lake temp is going down the fish are starting to come closer to the surface. So today I went and got some DEEP diving lures, (well… Continue

Hello all who might care to read this. I am a 22 year old college student in Mankato, MN. I grew up in this area and fished the heavily trafficked lakes and rivers through my childhood. When I was 12 my parents bought a lake cabin in northern MN and that opened up a new world of fishing for me. I've spent as much time as possible on Northern MN waters ever since.
I focus most of my time on smallmouth, walleye and musky these days, but I was brought up on catching largemouth. I'm very… Continue

Well here it is late in the evening...back from yet another fishing adventure! This was our 2nd day of Salmon fishing and wow! what fun it is.
After being home sick with the whole family, yesterday after supper we decided to get out of the "stuffy" house and head out for some fresh air and drop our lines in the water at Port Dalhousie. Never before have we fished for the infamous Big Salmon, although we have many, many times went for our walk and ended up there watching others sit… Continue

Lake Champlain is an awesome place to fish in September, but when the weather turns bad it can be a monster where high winds and big waves are the norm. The final tournament of the regular BFL season was last weekend on Lake Champlain.....Read… Continue

It was a brisk autumn day, the breeze was slight and out of the West. A perfect afternoon for two friends to go after the most feared fresh water fish on earth. Continue
Mike was the most experienced of the two, but Cory had the boat. They had gone after the elusive Musky together before and Mike suspected the results of this trip would be the same - he catches Musky's - big mean Musky's - and Cory whines. They launched the vessel and headed out on their journey. Mike let Cory make the…

Chatsworth, Ca. In 1988, two brothers started a machine shop in the San Fernando Valley with a conventional lathe and mill. This soon expanded into a 20,000 square foot building with state of the art single and multi axes computer controlled machinery.
14 years later - Hobby becomes creative work. In 1999 they began the work of designing Avet reels. In January of 2002, Avet Reels introduced a new line of saltwater reels… Continue

Well, its official. My wife is addictied to fishing. Guess what she is getting for Christmas????
Its been a while since I posted. Let me tell you about Calobogie Lake. Just outside of Arnprior and an hour drive from Ottawa, Ontario, it is one of the finest places to fish. It was quiet and the people were very friendly. Even though I did not catch anything, it was a great time had by all. My buddy Steve and I went for Walleye. He ended up with two Bluegill and a baby Bass. Six hours on the… Continue

I am a strictly catch and release angler. There are a number of reasons for this. First of all, with the exception of fish and chips down at the pub, I don't like eating fish. My father always told me that, if I killed a fish (or any other animal for that matter), I had an ethical obligation to clean it and eat it.
With the possible exception of fly-fishing anglers, I think that bass anglers are the most conservation minded anglers around. Bass anglers may have been the first group… Continue

Here we are in the truck, all packed and heading to Smiths Falls for a weekend of building horse stalls and fishing...a very different life than I lead during the week....what would my co workers say if they could see me now...hahahha
Made a stop at Gagnons, an outdoors store, to grab some funky froggie lures...wow, what a selection. Steve let me choose some that we have never used before. I am excited to try them out!
Cross your fingers that I catch a big one....and i'll… Continue

Out fishing after work tonight, we headed to an area where the water was running fast. Threw on a tube bait and casted the line. Steve caught a fish 1st cast ....flopped and made quite a commotion then got away...never got a chance to see what it was. I casted my line on the other side of the bridge...the sun was setting and the sky was a beautiful orange. Something grabbed my bait and started swimming against the current....definately not weeds I thought to myself...I hollared for Steve but… Continue

If anyone is ever looking to do some great River fishing for Smallmouth, the Delaware River is the place to do it. On a good day, I boat upwards of 50-70 fish, or over 100 between me and a bud, and they are all respectable River Smallmouth. Fishing in the push waters and the rift are incredible on light tackle. Delaware River smallies primarily feed on Shad and Lamprey's, so soft plastics work very well. The Topwater bite is incredible also. I've caught many fish of 19 inches or more on the… Continue

Well, here it is, Monday.....
Back to work, back to reality.........
I woke up this morning next to Steve and said "wish we could go fishing" and gave him a kiss.
He replied "me too".
And that was that..Steve headed off to work and I got the kids ready for school, showered and headed out the door.
I opened the truck door and the smell of tube baits and bass lure scent lofted from the truck...once a smell that would turn my stomach now… Continue

First of all I will tell you the story. Today as in September 8th 2008
I went fishing in a nice sized local pond, keep in mind this pond usually only has one pound fish in it... Today was a very clear day i could see in the water from shore a good 10ft with my polarized sunglasses.. I'm fishing having a good day then all of the sudden two NICE bass at least 4 pounds minimum came in front of me and i could see them. The one fish went away leaving the other pig still there.. I threw every… Continue

Well I was pretty excited to get up and at em this morning, but the weather was crappy. We geared up and headed out regardless...We picked a sweet spot we saw someone catch a big fish yesterday and got right at it. Being me, I refused to fish where everyone else wanted and headed to the other side of the bridge by myself. !st cast and a bite...another large mouth. I hollered for Steve to come get it off my line...as I still refuse to touch the fish...ahhahah...and he… Continue

MY STORY: PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ
before this life changing event, I was a stinking bum. After this happened to me fishin became my new passion in life and I newly dedicated myself to fishing to live each day like it was my last. Heres how it all changed for me.
This is a story deep from my heart. About a time I tried to poop but could do nothing but fart. I farted all night til my face turned red, I actually thought I would fart myself dead. I think I even popped a… Continue

Well, here it is 12:21 in the morning after my boyfriend bought me my 1st fishing rod.
Never did I imagine that I would ever own my own fishing rod, never mind catch 5 nice sized large mouth bass in one afternoon.
For the past two years Steve has been bringing me along fishing and I take photos, or play on the beach.
Yesterday that all changed. I got my fishing license, a new rod and some fancy legged frogs and joined the boys on an late afternoon fish at our… Continue
