Saving Second Base

For those of you who know me you know that my passion for fishing is unchallenged. But my passion for breast cancer awareness is stronger than my love for fishing, This disease is taking our mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts. I have very close family members that have battled and thankfully beat this disease. This disease although not endured by men very much affects them men in these women's lives.

Today, I received a call from my longtime friend and Bassmaster Elite Angler Tim… Continue

The Most Relaxing Past Time

I've been fishing since I was 5 years old. My first brush with nature and with freshwater fishes was during my first fishing trip with my dad. During that first time, as a kid, I hated waking up real early in the morning and then travelling down the interstate to the nearest fishing spot.

Unlike other kids who lived in the suburbs, my dad wanted me to experience everything nature had to offer. That was also the only weekend that I'd miss watching Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja… Continue

Gore Canyon backpacking and fishing

Shew....I haven't been backpacking in years. We went for 3 days into Gore Canyon outside Kremmling, Colorado, so our packs were a light 50+ pounds. The terrain just killed us though. It went like this- first mile down a jeep road to a 45 degree drop down loose rocky soil onto the 'trail'. Second mile- following goat trail along edge of Colorado River along cliff faces, hanging onto trees to stay on the mountain side 35 feet above class 6 rapids. Third mile- all rocks. BIG ROCKS. Rock hopping… Continue

Monster Mayan Cichlid adventure

It was Labor Day weekend that we had reservations to camp with our new trailer at the Upriver RV Resort, a mere 17 miles from our house up the Caloosahatchee River located in Southwestern Florida.

We had spent the 4th of July camped there and really loved it and the people we met. Camping was a pleasure for us and we also enjoyed the fishing our kayak offered.

One of my favorite fish to catch, and I catch a lot of fish, is this Mayan… Continue

Those crazy Colorado Walleyes....

So, if you read the forum, you know I stumbled onto this really hot little spot for walleye here in Colorado. I have never fished a place where they were so easy to catch...but I was having some real difficulties compared to by fishing buddy Dave who was just killin' me every time we went. The first three times we fished there he basically outfished me 3 to 1, and that was on a good day. I was starting to say that maybe walleye were all just insane with no feeding patterns, hangouts, or… Continue

Fishing Trip 9-6-09

We went to a small pay pit on the southside yesterday. I was thinking since it was the day before labor day I thought it would have been packed but to my surprise there were only two guys there and they had just got there. On this trip I took my girlfriend, mother, and little sister. We had been using beemoth and nightcrawler all day catching some nice sized bluegill. We decided to move to the next pond over and try there. Within seconds of my bobber hitting the water I had a bluegill on that… Continue
