Fall Eyes Abound

Fall 'Eyes Abound

By Samuel Forbes

As summer has past us and we journey into fall, many outdoorsmen are hanging up their rods and reaching for their rifles. If you are one of these people, you may want to reconsider signing off for the year. These chilly months often give up some of the best walleye fishing of the year and the scenery is spectacular as well. Another attribute is that while many sportsman are out chasing grouse and whitetail, you'll often have the hot spots all…

Crankn Cold Water Walleye

Crankin’ Cold Water ‘Eyes

By Sam Anderson

Late season walleyes are very aggressive but unfortunately for the fisherman the lakes are so full of forage all fish have to do is inhale and they have a meal. For this reason the best action is to fish an artificial bait fast. It might seem strange, but the faster the better. In fact, when you think you are trolling too fast speed up a little more. My theory is that when an artificial bait goes whizzing by, the predator instinct takes…

Suspended Walleye

Suspended are generally more difficult to locate and catch but there are a couple of different techniques that are proven to work.

Usually when the fish are suspended they're more spread out. I find, that the trick is to cover a lot of water and put a bait near as many fish as possible.

Crankbaits…

Fishing on the Seabiscuit

We have had such great fishing at the Channel Islands this year, and it has been a great pleasure to spend many of those days fishing on the Seabiscuit. We have caught a lot of very large Halibut, some nice white Sea Bass, lots of reds and lingcod. The season is beginning to wind down, but we still have a couple of months to go, so hopefully there will be more to come.

Be sure when you come to California, join Big Mikes fishing charters.

Fishing the Channel Islands

We have had some wonderful fishing this year at the Channel Islands. The world record for the Calfornia Halibut was broken 2 times and the White Seabass fishing was outstanding. It was really nice to see the hustle and bustle at Channel Islands Sportfishing like I have not seen it in years. I also got the opportunity to host a Charity event for Project Healing waters, for the injured military personnel, to learn to tie flies and go fly fishing to help get them back to a better life. A very…

FALL BASS.

Hey Fishing Fans.....Check out this awesome question I was asked by a friend of mine. R.J. Lanoie.

What do you think??? Lets hear it!

Here's a question for you Andy. In your opinion, Fall bass. . . There are all common " laws " for bass fishing that apply all year round, temperature, pressure, spawn etc that help figure out patterns or where some bass might be. Summer time. . . most people avoid fishing peak sun hours because its so hot and bright,…

Deep Hooked Fish (What To Do)

Sometimes you just can't help hooking a fish deep into the throat or the stomach area. A late hookset is usually the culprit. A windy day when you may not feel the bite until it's too late or the fish may just swallow the bait in it's enthusiastic chomp on that delicious plastic. Ummm! Yum! Yum! Whatever the…
